When we suffer from a lot of tension or stress we naturally feel drawn to do something that distracts us to make us feel better, and generally that something is food. Eating really turns into an automatic unconscious answer to stress and anxiety. So when you start to feel like this, you have to recognize the patter where your mind is going and break it before it gets too far.

Sometimes all it takes is to recognize that you are stressed out, when you learn to recognize the signals, that make you explode and learn how to work on them, the signals maybe something like breathing too fast, pain in the top of your stomach, or eating when you are simply not hungry, which may cause you to gain weight on top of everything.

Another small trick that you could do to not over eat is to really sit down and enjoy the meal periods. If you eat just to eat it could be the reason why you keep eating throughout the day. So the next time you sit down to have dinner make sure that your really experiment the pleasure of enjoying, smelling and feeling the texture, the more you enjoy the food, the less quantity of it you’ll need to find the needed enjoyment.

Another thing that you can do is to think of the last time you overate simply because you were stressed out, and how bad that made you feel and the amount of additional stress that may have caused you. The guilt maybe worse than the additional stress, so take your precautions and keep control of your hands and your mouth.
